New World Resource Corp.: Drilling at Lipena Intersects 60.6 Metres of 3.17% Copper and 5.31 g/t Gold
New World Resource Corp. (the “Company”) (TSX VENTURE:NW) reports that results from the second and third diamond drill holes on its Lipena project, in Bolivia, continue to demonstrate the presence of a wide zone of high-grade copper and gold mineralization.
The Company has now completed a 2859 metre, seven-hole, phase one drill program and is in receipt of results for the first three holes. The initial hole, 06DLP-45, reported on July 6, 2006, was designed to verify results derived from the previous operator (a subsidiary of Battle Mountain Gold Corp).
The second drill hole, 06DLP-46, designed to test the down-dip extension of the mineralized zone intersected by hole 06DLP-45, was collared approximately 80 metres; to the southwest, on section 9950. It was drilled to the northeast at a dip of -45 degrees and intersected the mineralized zone approximately 60 metres down-dip of hole 06DLP-45.
The third drill hole, 06DLP-47, designed to test the extension of the mineralized zone, along strike from hole 06DLP-45, was collared approximately 345 metres to the north northeast on section 9975. It was drilled to the southwest at a dip of -60 degrees and intersected the mineralized zone approximately 25 metres along strike, to the northwest of hole 06DLP-46. It has returned the most significant results from drilling at Lipena, to date.
Significant intercepts from the two new holes follow:

While the focus of initial drilling has been the Lipena zone, single holes were also drilled in each of the La Mosa and the Central zones to test for mineralization identified by the previous operator. In total, the three zones cover an area at least one kilometre in length and three hundred metres in width. Results from these holes, and from an additional two holes in the Lipena zone, are pending.
Additional Exploration
In conjunction with drilling, the Company has completed extensive chip sampling and detailed geological mapping programs. Existing road cuts were re-established and chip samples taken between the three zones at Lipena. A total of 373 samples, taken over more than 700 metres, has demonstrated the continuity of the tourmaline breccia between the three zones.
A diamond drill rig has been secured for the second phase of drilling, which will commence in mid-October. The program will focus on delineating, and demonstrating the continuity of, the mineralized breccia. A concurrent geophysical survey will also be conducted over the entire project area to explore and locate tourmaline breccias that are not exposed at surface.
Because tourmaline breccias hosting copper and gold mineralization often occur in clusters associated with regional scale structures, the Company has secured 14,517 acres of additional claims surrounding the Lipena project. The Company intends to undertake a regional exploration program on these claims, commencing with a compilation of historical work, satellite imagery study, geological mapping, and sampling.
Geology
The copper, gold and silver mineralization at Lipena is hosted by a subvertical magmatic hydrothermal breccia, with a vuggy, drusy hydrothermal quartz and tourmaline matrix, intruding a sequence of Miocene intermediate volcanics and volcaniclastics. The magmatic hydrothermal breccia bodies cut all other rock types and follow a west-northwest trending structure.
Copper, gold, and silver mineralization is associated with tourmaline and quartz-bearing breccias. The breccia is mineralized by coarse-grained chalcopyrite, intergrown with lesser pyrite and late specular hematite. The mineralogy and alteration characteristics suggest that this breccia may represent the uppermost level of a copper-gold porphyry system. A late stage epithermal event is sporadically exposed as cryptocrystalline and vuggy quartz-veining, within the breccias.
Quality Control and Assurance
Exploration work on the Lipena project is under the supervision of Joan McCorquodale, P.Geo, the Company’s Vice President, Exploration, who is a “qualified person”, as defined in NI 43-101, and is responsible for the preparation of the information contained in this news release.
The intra-lab standards, blanks and replicates were augmented by unmarked blanks, replicates and by aliquots of four geological standards acquired by the Company. Unmarked checks (standards, blanks and duplicates), inserted into the numbered sample sequence, represent approximately 5% of the total samples.
Under the supervision of the project geologist, sample bags were sealed and stored, pending secured transport for analysis. All samples, including drill core and rock chips, were analyzed for 41 elements using an ICP mass spectrometer at the ALS Chemex labs, in Vancouver.
