Conrad Black Trial Heads To Jury Wednesday

Yesterday lead prosecutor Eric Sussman made his final statements to the jury of 12 mostly middle aged women.  Picking apart numerous statements made throughout the trial.  Closing arguments lasted 4 hours and are the final words on the minds of jurors as they head into deliberation.

Conrad Black is on trial for 12 allegations relating to taking more than $60-million (U.S.) from Hollinger by skimming off payments related to non-competition agreements signed when the company sold newspaper titles.

“Why were these men entitled to take this money and lie about it?” Mr. Sussman asked jurors. “It’s the shareholders’ money.”

If found guilty on just one of the 12 criminal charges Lord Black will face substantial jail time.
